It’s fall and that means cooler weather, and after such a hot summer, it’s time to go camping. So why not go to a state park? We’ve got cabins and campsites and even tepees for your late season vacation.
Want some tips from the State Park Kids?
Well, for a large group of people, stick with a lodge room or a cabin, but if you really want to rough it, choose a campsite. If you decide to take the easy route, no one will blame you. But only true adventurers choose the harsh wilderness of the wild.
How to set up camp:
Step 1: First, you should decide where your tent or shelter will be located.
Step 2: Next, set up your shelter and arrange where your other places of need may be.
Step 3: Now, you should probably unload your luggage and set it up.
Step 4: Make a campfire, put rocks around it so it will not spread. Skip this step if your county/parish is under a burn ban.
Step 5: Hang your food in a plastic sack on a tree limb or a provided post. Why? One word BEAR!
Step 6: Unload sleeping bags, mattresses, and/or blankets. Place under shelter.
Step 7: Move any sticks or leaves away from the campfire, make sure of a source of water close by. Only YOU can prevent forest fires. You are welcome Smokey the Bear.
Step 8: Locate bathhouse, for use of bathing and waste disposal.
Step 9: Roast a wiener?
Step 10: Enjoy the view.
